Technical Manager (Maternity Cover)

Salary: £35,402
The Technical Manager is a leader within the Production and Technical team, a key member of the Senior Management Team and integral to the wider Derby Theatre organisation.


Salary: £35,402

Contract: Full time, 12-month FTC.

Hours: 39 hours per week (Evening, weekend and bank holiday working will be required)

Holiday: 28 days per annum, including public holidays, rising to 33 days over five years

Pension: Derby Theatre operates a contributory pension scheme provided by NEST

Probation: This post is subject to a six-month probationary period.

Notice: One week during probationary period, one month thereafter.

Purpose of Post

The post holder will contribute to the strategic plans of the organisation and lead the long-term planning and development of the technical department.

As well as working directly with Artistic, Technical, and Production teams, this post is a centre for cross-departmental communication across the organisation, bridging Artistic, Learning, FOH, and Programming, whilst also providing a key supporting role to the Production department. This ensures Derby Theatre can effectively plan production activity. The Technical Manager leads on all received productions and hires, both internal and external.

The Production Department is led by the Head of Production and includes a Head of Lighting, Sound & AV, Head of Stage, Company Stage Manager, Head of Wardrobe, Wardrobe Assistant and three multi skilled technicians split across lighting, sound, and stage.
