For the past three years, Plus One Youth Theatre has welcomed a vibrant and talented group of young people who meet weekly to have fun, build friendships, and create together. At the heart of Plus One is a strong sense of community — one that is proudly diverse, not only in the young people who take part, but also in the artists and adults who facilitate the work.
Our members’ interests extend far beyond theatre alone, and we aim for our creative work to reflect this. We are excited by multidisciplinary approaches and welcome practitioners from a wide range of creative backgrounds. Whether you are a Theatre Director, Writer, Emcee, Choreographer, Singer, or work across multiple art forms, if you are passionate about making meaningful creative work with young people, we would love to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Youth Theatre Director, you will plan and lead weekly creative sessions, supporting young people to explore ideas, develop skills, and work collaboratively towards performance. You will play a key role in creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring space where young people feel confident to express themselves, take creative risks, and build lasting connections. The role will be supported by our Creative Arts Therapy team and Community & Learning Producer, Tom Craig.
This role is particularly suited to practitioners who are interested in youth-led practice, care-experienced communities, and creativity as a tool for connection, confidence, and expression.
Sessions last 1 hour 30 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes paid preparation time per session.
Fee: £90 per session.
