Join us at the New Water Margin Chinese Restaurant for a cultural exchange and creative activities designed for the community by the community. Learn more about the culture and history behind lantern-making and Chinese New Year celebrations.
At the end you’ll have made a beautiful lamp that you can take home. There will be a chance to connect with other members of the community and try some refreshments provided by the host restaurant!
This workshop is open to anyone regardless of your background or knowledge of lantern-making, the facilitator will take you through it step by step and there will be time for cultural exchange between participants at the end of the workshop.
What to expect?
- 6:00pm – 6:10pm Culture introduction of the lantern traditions
- 6:10pm – 7:10pm Lantern-making workshop
- 7:10pm – 7:30pm Refreshments & Chinese tea
- 7:30pm – 8:00pm Social interaction: informal discussion and culture exchange
