Henna Workshop

Sun 13 Apr, 2025
Join us for a henna workshop with Zainab Hussain and Qurratul-ain Farooq!

The henna workshop is a hands-on experience where participants will learn the basics of henna art, including traditional designs and techniques.

We’ll guide you through creating your own beautiful designs and share tips for applying henna safely and effectively. You will practice your skills on worksheets, and each person will receive a mini henna cone to use during and after the workshop!

Under our guidance, each of you will also create your own henna design on your hand!

By the end of the session, you’ll have a deeper understanding of this ancient art form, a mini cone to continue practicing at home, and the satisfaction of having created your own beautiful henna designs!

Meet the Henna Artists:

My name is Zainab, and I’ve been practicing henna since I could hold a cone! Henna is a deeply cultural and creative practice that connects me to my roots, and I’ve been fortunate to learn the art from my mum, Qurratul-ain, who first learned it in Pakistan.

We’ve been working together as henna artists for decades and have had the privilege of collaborating with Derby Theatre on numerous events, including the Derby Mela 2024 and Diwali celebrations.

Our passion for henna goes beyond just the art itself—it’s a way for us to express our creativity while honoring our culture. We’re thrilled to share this beautiful tradition through our workshops and continue spreading the joy of henna art.
