Join In Good Company and sustainable advisor Talie Smith on a workshop exploring all things sustainability!

Wanting to know how you can embed better practice into your work? Where should you be looking for industry standard eco choices? We’ll walk through all things theatre Green Book and more!

Talie Smith is a freelance sustainability advisor specialising in Performing Arts based in Nottingham. She collaborates with theatres, creatives, artists, and individuals to enhance their understanding of the climate crisis and to empower them to take action regarding climate change challenges.

Talie supports businesses in decarbonising their practices through assessment, environmental data collection, planning, implementation, and reflection/learning/reporting. She collaborates with the Carbon Literacy project to deliver the Carbon Literacy for Theatres course.

Recent roles include: Sustainability Officer at Nottingham Playhouse, where she focused on sustainability efforts for this charity. At Nottingham Playhouse, she organised a Sustainability Summit, which brought together theatre practitioners from across the UK to network and learn about environmentally and socially conscious and circular approaches. She has guided many theatre practitioners in integrating the Theatre Green Book approach into their work.

She participates in several theatre sustainability groups both nationally and in the East Midlands. Her publications include articles in the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist Bulletin on sustainability within the profession, and commentary in the Association for Lighting Production and Design magazine on sustainability in lighting design. Recently, she has spoken and participated in panels at events such as the UK Theatre conference and Nottingham Partners Sustainability Breakfast.

Her areas of focus include the intersections between climate, arts, health, accessibility, and disability.
