Following the journey of two alien archaeologists, investigating a mysterious spaceship from the planet ‘Earth’, Hindsite explores the dangers of revisionist history. As the characters are exposed to opposing historical narratives, they find their opinions begin to differ. What exactly did it mean to be ‘Transgender’ on planet Earth…?

Hindsite is the culmination of a year’s worth of study, and a series of theatre workshops with the local Trans community. Written, produced and directed by emerging trans artist Órla Conder – and staring a cast composed entirely of talented individuals from the trans and queer community – Hindsite is an answer to the widespread rhetoric against trans rights in the mainstream press.

Coming at a time of Supreme Court rulings that threaten to erode those rights even further, Hindsite offers up an alternative, in the heartfelt personal narrative of a young trans person; asking the audience the age-old adage: ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’.

Set in the realms of science-fiction, and inspired by the low-budget camp of classic BBC serials such as Doctor Who, Blake’s 7 and Red Dwarf (amongst others), the show promises to provide laughter and clichés aplenty – alongside its more nuanced social messaging.

There will be an optional Q&A with the cast and creative team after the show. All audience members are welcome (and encouraged) to attend.
