Community Scratch Night is a night of new work and writing from across the Midlands. An evening of works in progress from artists creating fresh new work showcasing the best of Midland talent. One ticket will get you access to multiple performances, seeing the beginnings of works that will develop and grow.
We asked our scratch artists to prepare 3 questions that they need feedback on so you will get a chance to not only enjoy the wonderful and chaotic process of starting a new art project but also help our local artists to develop and learn from a live audience!

Caroline is a multifaceted creative who uses her art to inspire, encourage and entertain. During her recent battle and victory over stage 4 Hodgkin lymphoma, Caroline’s creative talents became a safe haven to process her experience. Armed with a unique perspective of life and the world around her, Caroline presents her experience in this performance. Through music and spoken word poetry, she takes the audience on a journey through her diagnosis, treatment, and recovery post-cancer. She explores the complexities of life with and after cancer, highlighting the ways in which illness can impact a person’s reality.
Overall, this performance conveys a heartfelt message of hope, healing and resilience in a world that does not always hold space for the stories that they don’t understand. Join her as she shares her personal experience of reclaiming her life and voice.
Olufeyisayo Seotan - I Became Coloured
Feyi Soetan Akinhanmi is a Nigerian theatre practitioner, performer, and educator based in the UK. She is currently completing her MA in Applied Theatre and Education at the University of Derby, where her work focuses on how theatre can explore identity, belonging, and race through creative dialogue. Her practice draws on Yoruba oral tradition, music, and movement to create work that is both reflective and emotionally engaging.
I Became Coloured, is a solo performance that explores the experience of growing up as a young person of colour in the UK. Through storytelling, humour, and rhythm, it traces a girl’s journey from cultural pride to self-erasure and, ultimately, to self-rediscovery. Rooted in Feyi’s lived experience and her conversations with young people, the performance invites audiences to reflect on how identity can be both lost and found in the spaces between cultures.

Willow – An Introvert at a Party
Get ready for puns, piano and plliteration as musical comedian Willow takes to the stage with songs that’ll have you dancing in your seats! They rap, sing, play piano and tell jokes, often at the same time, in a standup comedy show as theatrical as they come. They‘re a wannabe rockstar turned comedian and they describe themselves as a “songer singwriter”. Despite having literally several listeners on Spotify, Willow is currently an undiscovered artist, but they have a growing cult following on YouTube and TikTok. The piece they will be performing is an extract from their hour long standup show “Introvert at a Party”, which tackles themes of social anxiety, masking and identity, one musical number at a time. I hope you’re ready folks, there’s gonna be a show.
Your host and DJ for the night will be DJ EZA – bringing style, music and community vibes!
