With a variety of creatives activities on offer come and try something new this summer.
All materials provided and you get to take home all your wonderful creations.
These workshops are for young people only, parents/carers not required to stay on site, but are welcome to stay in our café and enjoy a 10% discount on all drinks & food, just show your booking confirmation/ticket.
A permission form will be required for each young person booked; this will be emailed to you following booking.
Where bookings are made for back-to-back workshops, young people can remain in the care of the Debry Theatre team in the break. We recommend young people bringing packed lunch, or food can be purchased from the Derby Theatre café (10% discount available), pre-orders can be made and paid for at the beginning of the day. If your child can leave site on their own during the break, please state on the permission form.

Mon 17 Aug, 11am-12:30pm – Watercolours with Hannah
Come and learn a new skill! We will learn about layering, patience and painting different patterns. Learn how to create simple but effective designs.
**This workshop can be paired with Macrame, 1:30pm-3pm, for a full day of activities. Booking required for each session.
Mon 17 Aug, 1:30pm-3pm – Macrame with Aisling
Learn the basics of macrame and make some bo-ho décor. You’ll get tied in knots while having a chill afternoon.
**This workshop can be paired with Watercolours, 11am-12:30pm, for a full day of activities. Booking required for each session.
Tue 1 Sep, 11am-12:30pm - Illustration with Hannah
Get to know the basics and brilliance of illustration! With guidance you will get the chance to illustrate your own artwork!
**This workshop can be paired with Creative Writing 13:30pm-3pm, for a full day of activities. Booking required for each session.
Tue 1 Sep, 1:30pm-3pm – Creative Writing with Aisling
Learn the building blocks to writing gripping and exciting short stories that keep readers engaged. We will strip back to basics and build on skills you already know. We will also talk about how these stories can be transferred to other mediums, like script writing, comic book writing or poetry.

Sat 5 Sep, 1:30pm-3pm – Crochet with Aisling
Come and learn the basics of crochet and make your own accessories. You will leave the session with your own crochet hook and your yarn so you can carry on crafting!
Workshop Leaders
Aisling Lammond
Aisling has lead craft workshops for young people for 20 years. Since completing her BA (hons) Degree in Applied Theatre and Special Education Needs and Masters in Writing for Performance, Aisling has worked professionally in many educational and creative roles, working with young people of all ages, including 1:1 support in secondary education working with teenagers with disabilities. She has a lot of experience in differentiating tasks for different abilities, whilst also making sure activities are fun and engaging.
Hannah Hirst
Hannah recently completed a master’s degree in Illustration, following a degree in Specialist Hair and Media Makeup, making her well versed within the realms of creativity, arts, and crafts. She has lots of experience with people of different ages, from working at the theatre and experience in primary schools, working with children in different age groups, she understands how to cater activities to suit different ages and abilities.
