Come along for a toe tapping concert of local choirs singing their favourite songs, completed by a chorus of over 100 singers all enjoying music and singing together.

The concerts are the debut A Song for Everyone events. 2025 focuses on local choirs, performing their favourite songs and finishing with a finale for everyone. The two concerts have different choirs, ranging from audition only, to non-audition with singers who may not read music, or have sung outside the shower before. They are connected by their love of singing.

The concerts simply celebrate community singing, showcasing the variety, inclusivity, and health and social benefits they bring to communities and people. The feeling of singing with a group of people is unique, join a choir and have a go.

Pre-show Scratch evening

Join us for an inspiring evening as part of a series of events organised by DT Communities!

The evening’s scratch performers are members of DRS (Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity) Music Group. Today we have duo – Dlivan Salih and Carol Fieldhouse from Ashti (meaning ‘peace’ in Kurdish and Farsi). Ashti formed in September 2023 and are Carol Fieldhouse, Divan Salih and Mohammadreza Behjat. They sing songs in Arabic, Farsi and original English songs by Carol arranged together for Santoor, Drum, Keyboard and Guitar. Their music has been described as atmospheric, soothing, rhythmic and moving. The different instruments and musical traditions of Farsi, Kurdish, Arabic and English sit together comfortably because of the nature of the instruments and voices. In 2024 they performed with poet Seni Seneviratne at both Coach House Studios, Wirksworth and at Reunion, Belper. They have given performances at Derby Theatre Departure Lounge and a Scratch performance for Tender, Refugee Week at the Museum of Making, Derby and the Guildhall Sessions, Lincoln.

The band will start an hour before the show, 12pm before the matinee and 6pm in the evening. The performance will last for 45 minutes.
