Mental Roots – Animation and mental health talk

Sun 21 Jul, 2024 Archive
Mental Roots is an ethical brand using creativity and media to address factors affecting young black people's mental health.

Founded by Derby University graduate and award-winning creative Nathan Addai, the brand was birthed through Nathan’s BBC-commissioned short animation ‘Mental Roots‘.

Mental Roots’ mission is to work with diverse artists, businesses, charities, and academic institutions, in creating artistic solutions for multi-ethnic communities that promotes their wellbeing and personal expression.

Nathan will conduct a presentation about the power of media and creativity in impacting young, black people’s identity and wellbeing. Nathan will showcase his two animations under the Mental Roots brand – Mental Roots and Black Female Living – as well as share his inspiration behind them. There will also be a chance for some group discussion regarding the themes the films address.
