Autumn 2026 Studio Brochure and What’s On

Derby Theatre is proud to announce their full autumn season for the studio – the intimate performance space for exciting, new, contemporary and cutting-edge work. We have a wealth of shows to keep you engaged, amused and inspired, ranging from MADE IN DERBY productions to exhilarating touring shows. Watch this space to see all shows, from excellent one-nighters to fantastic family entertainment!

As part of our next brochure – we are delighted to remind you that our Christmas MADE IN DERBY show is from the creators of the 2025 sell-out production of Tortoise and the Hare. Derby Theatre, Hiccup Theatre and Polka Theatre present The Owl and the Pussycat, a perfect treat for ages 3+ and their families, will play in the Studio from Saturday 5 December 2026 to Saturday 9 January 2027, with all performances including integrated BSL, creative captions and integrated audio description. This enchanting re-telling of The Owl and the Pussycat combines puppetry, live music and beautiful storytelling to invite you into a wonderfully whimsical world of rhyme, rhythm and ridiculousness – perfect for ages 3+ and their grown-ups, directed by Sarah Brigham. 

As part of our top-class touring show programme, we will have an array of one nighter shows programmed for our vast audiences during the autumn and spring. More family treats are in store with Rapunzel. Expect the likes of Hasbian, a new Queer coming-of-age comedy. Red Ladder and Silent Uproar present Close Enough to Touch, an intimate, unflinching show about secrets, sex … and toilets. 

Access All Areas bring A Small Enclosed Room with Alfie Murphy, the funny and chaotic world of Alfie. Critical Care is a performance around ICU nurses in the COVID 19 pandemic.  Deepest Fears Ghost Stories dares you to face your deepest fears. 

Derby’s cabaret scene takes over the studio with Saucebox. For Black History Month, up-and-coming Midlands artists of Black, African, and Caribbean heritage perform a showcase called And Still I Rise. Expect fantastic performances from the community, including Rhythm of Addis: A New Year Celebration in the upper foyer. Eva May and Friends brings Derbyshire’s own Eva for an unforgettable evening of live music and song that is not to be missed.

Fatiha El-Ghorri: Cockney Stacking Doll sells out the studio with big laughs, and the season comes jam packed with more comedy including Ram Comedy Club and A Good Neet Aht
