Cast Announced for The Wind in the Willows, our outdoor Family Show this Summer

Our exciting stage adaptation will feature Ruby Ablett, Charlotte Dowding, Kaine Hatukai, TJ Holmes, Jim Kitson and Tilly-Mae Milbrook, plus recent graduates from the University of Derby.

Derby Theatre is excited to announce the cast for our upcoming summer production of The Wind in the Willows, an exciting stage adaptation by Toby Hulse of Kenneth Grahame’s classic tale that will be presented in the performance marquee on Derby Market Place from Sunday 27 June until Saturday 11 July 2021.

The cast includes:

Ruby Ablett (The Threepenny Opera and A Christmas Carol for Bolton Octagon and Double Act by Jacqueline Wilson for Polka Theatre)

Charlotte Dowding (Girl Scouts vs. Aliens and Eat Your Heart Out at the Edinburgh Fringe and Paper. Scissors. Stone at Vaults Festival and Elevator Festival)

Kaine Hatukai (Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play and Hamlet in Greenwich Theatre’s The Secret Love Life of Ophelia starring Dame Helen Mirren)

TJ Holmes (One Man, Two Guvnors for Derby Theatre and Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch, The Hired Man for Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch, Mother Courage for Leeds Playhouse and Two Gentleman of Verona for Shakespeare’s Globe and Liverpool Everyman)

Jim Kitson (Pitmen Painters for New Vic Theatre plus George Gently and Tracey Beaker Returns for the BBC)

Tilly-Mae Millbrook (Hansel and Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood for Derby Theatre and Summer Holiday, The Crucible and Blithe Spirit for Pitlochry Festival Theatre).

Joining the company, as recent graduates from the University of Derby, we are also thrilled to announce Dylan Bull, Charlotte Joliffe and Ana Delmore.

The creative team for The Wind is the Willows  is Toby Hulse (Adaptor); Trina Haldar (Director); Ivan Stott (Composer and Sound Designer); Nettie Scriven (Set and Costume Designer); Irene Jade (Assistant Set and Costume Designer); Jeanefer Jean-Charles (Movement Director); Alexandra Stafford (Lighting Designer) and Alex Hatton (Prop Maker).

About the Show

The Wind in the Willows  is a firm family favourite, a classic story for people of all ages to enjoy together, and the perfect choice to celebrate live performances returning.

This summer, join Toad, Ratty, Mole, Badger and their animal friends for an exciting whirlwind adventure amidst the English countryside. When Mole forfeits his spring cleaning for the lure of the luscious riverbank, he has no idea of the thrilling journey that he and his friends are all about to embark on.

The production, directed by Trina Haldar, will feature live music, songs and a talented company of actor-musicians. This charming and delightful adaptation remains a firm family favourite and is sure to be a seasonal summer treat for audiences of all ages.
