Following the award of £10m in UK Government funding in 2023, this latest step marks exciting progress in delivering a bold vision for the future of the much-loved city venue. The proposed development will transform Derby Theatre’s facilities, expanding its performance, community, participation and learning spaces. The plans encompass a new purpose-built Studio theatre, creating a flexible and dynamic space for innovative productions, alongside enhanced learning and community areas.
This redevelopment reflects Derby Theatre’s commitment to placing civic engagement and learning opportunities alongside high-quality entertainment, ensuring the venue continues to serve as a cultural hub for the city. The Theatre, owned by the University of Derby, is a Learning Theatre, recognised as a model for industry-led inclusive learning.
