Whether you’re a dedicated fan or simply curious to learn more, these gatherings foster a sense of community and enrich your theatre experience. As part of DT Communities, our spring season Matinee Meet-Ups offer a special opportunity to enjoy an engaging experience, a meet-and-greet, and a hot drink from the cafe – all for just £3. 

Join us at Derby Theatre this March for Meet the Playwright: John Godber on Wednesday, 26 March 2025, at 12:30 PM. One of the most performed playwrights in the English language, John Godber, will share insights into his career and celebrated works. With a Laurence Olivier Award and seven Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards, his acclaimed plays Bouncers, Up ‘n’ Under, and Teechers have captivated audiences worldwide. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear about his journey from drama teacher to renowned playwright. 

Do I Love You? runs from Tuesday, 25 March to Saturday, 29 March 2025. This heartwarming comedy follows young Northern Soul enthusiasts Sally, Nat, and Kyle as they embark on a journey from Hull to Blackpool, discovering friendship, music, and the true spirit of the Northern Soul movement along the way. 

As part of Derby Theatre’s next Main House Made in Derby production, Kiss Me Quickstep, join us for Meet the Choreographer: Joanna Goodwin on Wednesday, 18 June 2025, at 12:30 PM. Renowned choreographer Joanna Goodwin, whose impressive career spans both theatre and screen, including My Fair Lady at Curve Leicester and Black Mirror (Netflix), will offer exclusive insights into her work on the show. She’ll share her experiences, discuss the creative process, and participants will get a chance to learn some ballroom moves from the show! 

Running from Friday, 6 June to Saturday, 21 June 2025, Kiss Me Quickstep is a dazzling production set in the high-stakes world of competitive ballroom dancing. Following dancers as they navigate ambition, pressure, and personal struggles on their journey to the Blackpool national championships, this captivating story brings the glamour, passion, and drama of the dance floor to life.
