The 18-25 Performance Company has been busy filming a regional recruitment campaign, calling for new members to join the company. The campaign invites early-career artists aged 18-25 to get involved, with a particular focus on those with lived experience of care. The promotional trailer, due for release in November, features dancers from Derby’s professional dance and performing arts school, Born To Perform.
Members of Plus One also travelled to London to see Playing On! Theatre Company’s production of Flock. Playing On! previously collaborated with Plus One in 2024 to create a response piece to Ross Willis’ Wonder Boy. Written by Lin Coghlan, Flock is a moving portrait of grief, love and resilience, told through the eyes of a young man who understands the world through the behaviour of birds: free, loyal and often pecking the life out of one another. The production is sad, funny and honest, yet ultimately full of hope.
The group also travelled to Birmingham Rep to support Plus One Ambassador Ty’rone Haughton in his acclaimed one-man show, Made You Look. A fiercely honest and lyrically rich piece, the production explores contemporary masculinity with insight, vulnerability and power.
