Derby Theatre excited to announce a new family show to be performed in the city this summer

To celebrate the re-opening of theatres, Derby Theatre is thrilled to announce that they will produce and present The Wind in the Willows this summer.

The stage adaptation by Toby Hulse of Kenneth Grahame’s classic tale, will be presented in the Performance Marquee on Derby Market Place from Sunday 27 June until Sunday 11 July 2021.

The Wind in the Willows is a firm family favourite, a classic story for people of all ages to enjoy together, and the perfect choice to celebrate live performances returning.

About The Show

Join Toad, Ratty, Mole, Badger and their animal friends for an exciting whirlwind adventure amidst the English countryside. When Mole forfeits his spring cleaning for the lure of the luscious riverbank, he has no idea of the thrilling journey that he and his friends are all about to embark on.

The production, directed by Trina Haldar, will feature live music, songs and a talented company of actor-musicians. This charming and delightful adaptation remains a firm family favourite and is sure to be a seasonal summer treat for audiences of all ages.

The Wind in the Willows is a funny, timeless tale of friendship, courage, consequences and bravery. It is the first show to be announced for the new performance marquee on Derby Market Place, a friendly and safe space made to welcome you back to the city.

Derby LIVE, the city council’s arts and events arm, is working with a range of partners to bring a programme of entertainment to the outdoor space throughout the summer.
