“If we want children to find their place in the world, we must first give them the power to speak within it, because oracy isn’t just a tool for learning, it’s a voice for life.” — Frankie
Some students speak with ease. Others have plenty to say but struggle to find the words or the confidence. This one-day Creative Oracy training helps teachers unlock every students’ potential to think, reason, and communicate with confidence.
Built on the success of our two-year Speak Out Project, developed with the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust and Derby Theatre, this training uses creative practice to enhance teacher confidence, enrich lessons, and bring oracy to life in meaningful, engaging ways.
You’ll explore techniques linked to the Voice 21 strands: Physical, Linguistic, Cognitive, and Social & Emotional through drama and creative techniques.
Our evidence from Speak Out shows that Creative Oracy closes that gap, particularly for those disadvantaged and with EAL, by explicitly combining oracy progression with drama techniques, because their imaginations fire the motivation to speak.
The National Curriculum Curriculum and Assessment Review is clear that “spoken language underpins the development of reading and writing,” and that “Drama and role play can contribute to the quality of pupils’ writing.” GOV.UK
