Dementia Carers’ Café

Monthly, Fridays
A free, monthly gathering for unpaid carers and people living with dementia.

The café is hosted by Derby Theatre, with the support of Universal Services for Carers, and provides a friendly and relaxed environment for people to share experiences.

There is an activity each month, alongside the café, for those who want to participate. Dates and details below.

Hot drinks and sweet treats are provided. New members are always welcomed with open arms.

For more information and to request a place, please email Senior Producer, Stuart Allen at: s.allen@derby.ac.uk

A Caring Welcome

I’ve not been coming long but I thought I’d write a verse,
before I met the others I felt that I’d been cursed.
But my sisters and my brothers
have freed me, showing love.
Kind listening, attentive tolerance,
just like God above.
Humour, friendship, sharing experiences,
listening, advising, helping with grievances.

All the world’s a stage and we can all go behind the scenes.
Sometimes in the silence I want to stamp and scream.
The feelings of sharing and friendship,
acceptance in the group,
no cliques or judgements made.
We share our life’s experiences,
that we face from day to day.

It’s fixed on the calendar and not to be missed!
A cup of tea and biscuits,
with interesting activities.
We leave feeling refreshed and supported,
our faith and trust restored.

Come along!
