Matinee Meet Ups (Music Moments from Frankie Goes to Bollywood)

Thu 14 May, 2026
Are you a fan of matinees and looking to connect with like-minded individuals to enhance your theatre experience? Perhaps you're curious about what goes on behind the scenes or eager to engage in creative activities before the show begins. Matinee Meet-Ups is your opportunity to delve deeper into the world of theatre and build connections within your community.

We’re excited to share that the team behind Frankie Goes to Bollywood will host a special music workshop during their time at Derby Theatre.

The session will be led by an experienced music educator and a member of the production’s band, Manjeet Rasiya. With over 20 years of experience, Manjeet is a multi-percussionist and tabla player who has contributed to the Key Stage 2 national curriculum and previously served as Education and Outreach Coordinator for Southampton City Council.

Inspired by the vibrant songs of Frankie Goes to Bollywood, this interactive workshop introduces participants to the rich sounds of Bollywood music and Bhangra, exploring their cultural meaning and origins. Attendees will get hands-on with instruments and sheet music, experiencing the music from a performer’s perspective.

The workshop will conclude with a Q&A session, providing insight into professional musical practice and pathways into the wider creative industries.
