Learn more about men’s mental health and the impact of music on wellbeing through local community stories!

Men’s Mental Health Night is an evening dedicated to exploring the connection between men’s mental health and music. Through guest speakers, live discussions and performances, the night will raise awareness, share stories and create a safe, inspiring space for the community.

Panel Discussion and Q&A

Speaker 1 – Dave Powell (Time 2 Talk)

Dave is a social worker and men’s mental health group facilitator at Time 2 Talk. He will discuss his own current projects connected to mental health, his personal experience and how music can support with recovery and wellbeing.

Speaker 2 Rebecca Fawn (Fawn Music)

Rebecca is an artist, music therapist and an educator. Sharing her personal story and offering live workshop demonstration of music therapy techniques.

Speaker 3 – Jessiah Johnson

Jessiah is a Midlands based rapper. Meet a local music industry professional who will chat to the audience about their personal journey, reflections on mental health and perform a part of their set.

Artist Showcase & Open Mic

Jerkz 

Jerkz is a rapper from Derby known for bringing real emotion and truth to his music. His performances blend raw storytelling with uplifting energy, offering an honest look into life’s highs and lows. Through his track “Lost,” he opens up about his own mental health journey — turning pain into purpose and connection through his words.

Jaki Boi 

I’m Jakiboi, a 23 year old artist from Derby who specialises in Indie and Lo-Fi. My songs are laid back and relaxing. The perfect listen for when life feels like it’s moving too fast.

Castro Bey 

Derby-based artist Castro Bey blends music, storytelling, and visual art to explore the balance between calm and chaos. His work dives deep into self-discovery, rebellion, and spirit — a fusion of conscious hip-hop, cinematic sound, and raw emotion. With four albums to his name, Castro Bey continues to evolve as a voice of truth and transformation. Founder of Dredeye Knights, he turns lived experience into creative universes that challenge, inspire, and awaken.

Afterwards the stage will be open to event participants to share poetry, songs and stories.
