Established in 1995, Shakti Academy specialise in Bollywood, Bhangra, Indian Folk, and Semi-Classical Indian dance styles. They perform locally, nationally and internationally, and bring their vibrant choreography to audiences and communities of all kinds.
In this fun and welcoming workshop, you’ll be introduced to authentic Bhangra moves and work together to create a short routine to a popular Bhangra track. There’s no need for any previous dance experience—just come along, get moving, and enjoy learning one of the most joyful and energetic dance styles around.
**PLEASE NOTE: Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and trainers.
This workshop is part of Derby’s Refugee Week 2025 celebrations, followed by the Meet Your Neighbour, Dance Party in the upper foyer and a performance of Kiss Me Quickstep in the Main House.
