Cast Announced for Mr Burns, A Post-Electric Play at Derby Theatre

Published Monday 26th Jun 2023
The not-too-distant future. Society has collapsed. A group of survivors have gathered around a fire, and are attempting to piece together an episode of The Simpsons from memory.

What follows is a journey spanning nearly a century, exploring how humanity attempts to rebuild civilisation in a post-apocalyptic world.

Directed by Omar Khan, this marks the UK regional premiere of Mr Burns by Anne Washburn, in an urgent new production that explores energy scarcity and the climate crisis. Michael Friedman’s music is performed by an exceptional cast of regional and national actors, with a reimagined musical palette, and movement that explores some of the earliest forms of storytelling.

The cast includes Daniel Rainford (Matt/Homer), Hazel Monaghan (Jenny/Lisa), Ida Regan (Maria/Itchy), Nathan Richard Smith (Sam/Mr Burns), Ines Sampaio (Colleen/Scratchy), Matthew Heywood (Gibson/Bart), and Helen Potter (Quincy/Marge).
