Matinee Meet-ups (What the Butler Saw)

Wed 12 Jun, 2024
Are you a fan of matinees and looking to connect with like-minded individuals to enhance your theatre experience? Perhaps you're curious about what goes on behind the scenes or eager to engage in creative activities before the show begins. Matinee Meet-Ups is your opportunity to delve deeper into the world of theatre and build connections within your community.

Join us on Wednesday 12 June at 12:30 PM for an engaging Matinee Meet-Up session featuring director Michael Cabot, renowned for his work on Joe Orton’s final and most audacious play, “What the Butler Saw.” This manic farce is a masterclass in fearless comic writing.

During this session, Michael will delve into the rehearsal process and offer insights into the show for those unfamiliar with it. As the founder and Artistic Director of London Classic Theatre, Michael has directed over 44 productions. We’ll also share some hilarious behind-the-scenes anecdotes from Derby Theatre staff, adding to the comedic spirit of the event.

Expect an afternoon filled with laughter as you meet our wonderful staff members, including Caroline Barth, our Creative Learning Director. Learn first hand about directing a quick-paced farce from one of the industry’s leading directors.

Following the matinee performance of “What the Butler Saw,” join us in the café for Chit Chat. This is your opportunity to mingle with members of the Derby Theatre team, discuss the show, or simply enjoy casual conversation.
