Sophie Willan Culture Cares quote

“As a performer, producer and writer with a care- experience background, I know just how vital the Arts are in helping to create pathways and provide opportunities for young people who may have been marginalised in society.

I am passionate about advocating for care- experienced young people and empowering them to build bright futures within the creative industries.

“I know how vital the arts are in helping create pathways for young people”

From receiving the Caroline Aherne Bursary for new comedy talent, through to being awarded a BAFTA for my BBC show, ‘Almas Not Normal’, I know that with the right support behind you, you can achieve success in this industry, regardless of your background.

But more needs to be done, and that’s why conferences such as Culture Cares are vital, they provide care-experienced young people a platform to have their creative voices heard, by people who need to hear them.”
